BlueCross Named Statewide Training Sponsor for AndreaWalks “Our sponsorship of AndreaWalks is a way for us to not only help Tennessee First Lady Andrea Conte prevent and intervene on child abuse, but also encourage the thousands of anticipated walkers to continue walking beyond the event,” said Randy Williams, senior manager of marketing operations at BlueCross. As the official statewide training sponsor, BlueCross will use its WalkingWorks program to distribute walking and health information as well as a free pedometer to all registered walkers. In early October, AndreaWalks participants and other walking enthusiasts across the state will be able to record their pedometer mileage on a log on the WalkingWorks Web site. In addition to the mileage tracker, the site will provide health information and safety tips. “Walking doesn’t require intense Olympic-style training, but it does require training your mind,” Williams said. “Registered participants can walk nearly 15 miles per day. Before they hit the road, they should know the basics about stretching, proper attire and water intake.” In addition to its training sponsorship, BlueCross is a platinum level sponsor of AndreaWalks. AndreaWalks begins in Memphis on Sept. 8 and concludes its first leg on Nov. 17 in Cookeville.
